About Yoga
Today the Yoga we hear about most in the west, is part of a system called Hatha Yoga. It uses physical postures, breathing exercises and concentration to reveal peace and restore balance to our minds and bodies.
Different names have been given to describe styles of Hatha Yoga (ex. Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Iyengar, Sivananda). These descriptions help give you an idea of what to expect in terms of the focus and pace of the class. Class descriptions are a guideline to help you choose a style of practice that suits you. You will also find a teacher’s unique personality, experience and training influence their approach.
Discovering which style works for you is part of the fun and the journey.
